Yes, they sure do! THC, or delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, is the primary psychoactive compound found in cannabis. When consumed, it binds to cannabinoid receptors in the brain and produces various psychological and physiological effects, including:
- euphoria
- relaxation
- altered perception of time
- and increased appetite.
THC drinks, or cannabis-infused beverages, contain THC that is extracted from cannabis and added to the drink. When you consume a THC drink, the THC is absorbed into your bloodstream and fairly quickly reaches your brain, leading to the intoxicating effects commonly associated with being “high.” It’s important to note that the potency and onset time of the high will vary depending on the concentration of THC in the drink and your tolerance.
How long does it take for THC to kick in?
With the effects of THC varying from person to person, it’s always a good idea to start with a low-dose product and wait for the effects to manifest before consuming more. We recommend less than 10mg THC. Some THC drinks have as little as 2mg THC in them if you really want to start low. Onset can be in as little as 10 minutes but can take 60 – 90 minutes to take full effect. The duration of the effects can vary depending on factors such as metabolism and dosage, typically one low-dose drink can last for 4+ hours. We always recommend taking it slow to work out what your tolerance is, then add a little more the next time until you find your sweet spot.
One of the great things about drinking low-dose THC drinks is you’re still very much in control. You’re not going to be high as a kite and tripping out. Some strains like Sativa can actually make you feel uplifting, alert and very creative. Indica strains are better known for making you feel relaxed and very chilled. And many of the drinks today taste wonderful (there is no weed or marijuana smell or taste), like Fable Into the Woods or Cann Ginger Lemongrass.
How is drinking THC different from Alcohol?
Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant that can result in disinhibition, impaired judgment, loss of coordination, and potential blackouts. THC, on the other hand, is a psychoactive compound that can produce euphoria, relaxation, altered perception, and cognitive impairment.
One of the big benefits of drinking THC over alcohol is you won’t wake up with a hangover (if you consume quite a bit of THC and CBD you might feel ‘cloudy’ the next morning but generally that goes away fairly quickly). THC drinks are also typically a lot healthier than drinking alcohol, as many of them have low calories, low sugar, and often contain natural and organic ingredients. Whilst there are some great-tasting non-alcoholic drinks out there, unfortunately, they don’t do anything. With a THC drink you get a great buzz making them an exciting alternative to alcohol.
